Julie Wilson is one of the Hunter's finest jazz vocalists, performing regularly at festivals & clubs around the
Hunter Valley.
In 2002 Julie received two awards at the inaugural Newcastle ABC Music Awards for Best Female Vocalist & Best Jazz Song for “I've Thrown My List Away”.
Over the last 10 years Julie has developed her passion for Jazz music, forming her own jazz quartet & performing with the 18-piece Dungeon Big Band. (she is featured on their 2007 “Strike Up the Dungeon Big Band” & also on the “Live at the Dungeon” CD).
Julie's repertoire covers a range of jazz standards from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday and Peggy Lee through to more contemporary material from Nora Jones & Diana Krall.
As well as delivering crowd-stopping ballads, Julie's performances are flavoured with swing & latin feels and spiced with New Orleans second-line grooves, giving her shows a unique blend of rhythm, melody and improvisation.
Julie is also in demand as a session singer, regularly contributing to CDs & demos by local artists & jingles for radio and TV.
